Assessment
This course will provide you with a solid foundation in the key knowledge, understanding, and practical skills required for a career in graphic design. Throughout the course, there is a strong emphasis on creativity and practical work. You will be challenged to experiment with advanced art and design projects in a creative and thoughtful manner. You will create a portfolio of art and design work using both given and self-defined briefs. You will be able to experiment with various aspects of graphic design, such as digital imaging, corporate design, contextual referencing, typography, and idea generation techniques. You will also gain a critical understanding of the historical and professional issues that are relevant to graphic design practice. Lectures, seminars, and practical laboratory sessions will be used to teach you.
You will work in groups to simulate industry practice and improve your transferable skills. Individual and group projects, visual and oral presentations, and written assignments will be used to assess you.
Progression
Students who successfully complete the Level 5 HND will be able to apply to many universities in the UK to study for a full degree. This course is for anyone interested in honing their design skills to a professional level and preparing a portfolio for industry, or continuing their education with a top-up third year on an appropriate BA (hons) course
