Sport & Exercise Nutrition is a dynamic and interesting worldwide scene that is constantly expanding. Nutrition and exercise are industries that are rapidly being recognized and supported by the government, with several initiatives and incentives supporting the development of new business ventures and specialty sectors. The BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Nutrition with Foundation Year programme is designed for students who want to understand why exercise and nutrition are so important to our health. From the psychology of sport to food science, you will gain a better grasp of the impacts of regular exercise and sports nutrition. You'll investigate the complex relationships between diet, health, physical well-being, and performance, while also gaining experience in the skills needed to work in the field of sport and exercise, such as providing expert advice on healthy eating, conducting dietary surveys, and advocating for change. We created our sport and exercise nutrition course to address the growing knowledge of the impact of nutrition on sport and exercise performance, as well as the growing need for jobs in the field. Anatomy, physiology, energy metabolism, nutrition, sport and exercise psychology, and other related areas are covered in this course. You will investigate the promotion of physical and mental health through exercise and diet. People's well-being can be improved by having a practical understanding of the benefits of nutrition and exercise. ​​The BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Nutrition course combines scientific theory with the opportunity to hone your practical and research abilities. The course was created in collaboration with industry experts and employers to prepare you for professions in sectors such as health and wellness, food, and education. Focus on nutrition, sport and exercise science, or a combination, encompassing current concerns in food and nutrition, ergogenic aids, and extreme conditions, to personalise your degree.

Assessments

The Foundation Year assessment technique guarantees that a wide range of academic, employment, social, and personal skills are developed in accordance with the program learning outcomes. Students will be expected to create:
  • Work in a variety of formats, including oral and written work;
  • Creative work that develops digital capabilities;
  • Solo and group work; 
  • Work-based examinations.
  • Assessments may also contain a portfolio of assigned assignments to enable gradual guided progression supported by a combination of formative and summative assessments.

 

Entry requirements

Fees & funding

Course fee per year: £9,250 The Tuition Fee of the course may vary depending on the institution you wish to study at, as well as your status in the UK. The course is available for UK/EU & International Students and eligible for Student Loans Company (SLC) funding to help cover the cost of your tuition fees and other expenses. If you are an UK/EU citizen or living in the UK on an Indefinite stay, apart from the tuition fees, you could also receive support from the government via Student Loans Company to cover some living costs while studying. The maintenance loan depends on each individual's circumstances.
Fees breakdown:
Tuition fee loans cover the full cost of your course and are paid directly to the course provider.
Student Finance has to be paid back, however, you only make Student Loan repayments once you've left your course AND are earning enough. Repayments vary with your salary, and stop altogether if your income drops too low.
Maintenance Loan pays for day-to-day living expenses like rent, bills, food and books. Unlike the fees loan, it's paid directly to your student bank account once a term and you can spend it on anything you like.
Students can also apply for other types of special support grants, such as childcare grants or Disabled Students' Allowance if eligible.
Moreover, almost all universities offer a selection of student bursaries. These are cash gifts you usually don't have to repay.
