Graphic Design

BA Hons

Course overview

As designers, we play an essential role in society and have the power to make a significant difference in our environment. Through briefs that challenge you to delve below the surface, presenting sustainable and culturally-conscious solutions to real-world situations, you will be encouraged to develop a critical eye. You'll think about font, colour, forms and shading, and how combining these components in an eye-catching fashion can convey a powerful message. This bachelor's graphic design degree reflects the graphic design industry to guarantee you have the skills and knowledge to find the appropriate position once you finish. While other graphic design degrees teach the theory, our program ensures that you put it into practice. You'll establish your own visual identity as part of our BA (Hons) Graphic Design degree, with a focus on typography and professional connections earned from our industry-active, research-led teaching staff. With options to specialise in your area of interest and receive honours from major graphic design organisations, you'll be able to construct an exciting design portfolio that no employer will be able to refuse. If you want to start a career in web design, advertising, branding, or other media, or advance to a Master's degree, now is the time to do it. Using cutting-edge software, our broad industry connections and our studio spaces, you'll develop a strong skill set that will allow you to communicate your ideas and work in a business-like manner within the creative sectors. Throughout this Graphic Design program, you will also participate in a variety of workshops on typography, printmaking, photography, motion design and other topics. You'll be a knowledgeable graphic designer capable of articulating the theory behind your ideas, the history of the profession, and generating work that captivates your audience by the time you graduate.

Entry requirements

Fees & funding

Course fee per year: £9,250 The Tuition Fee of the course may vary depending on the institution you wish to study at, as well as your status in the UK. The course is available for UK/EU & International Students and eligible for Student Loans Company (SLC) funding to help cover the cost of your tuition fees and other expenses. If you are an UK/EU citizen or living in the UK on an Indefinite stay, apart from the tuition fees, you could also receive support from the government via Student Loans Company to cover some living costs while studying. The maintenance loan depends on each individual's circumstances.
Fees breakdown:
Tuition fee loans cover the full cost of your course and are paid directly to the course provider.
Student Finance has to be paid back, however, you only make Student Loan repayments once you've left your course AND are earning enough. Repayments vary with your salary, and stop altogether if your income drops too low.
Maintenance Loan pays for day-to-day living expenses like rent, bills, food and books. Unlike the fees loan, it's paid directly to your student bank account once a term and you can spend it on anything you like.
Students can also apply for other types of special support grants, such as childcare grants or Disabled Students' Allowance if eligible.
Moreover, almost all universities offer a selection of student bursaries. These are cash gifts you usually don't have to repay.
Please submit an enquiry to find out more or use our calculator to estimate how much Maintenance Loan you can get and how much you will have to repay per month once you finish your course.
