Studying BA/BSc (Hons) Business and Tourism will give you the skills, insights and confidence to start your career and tackle the industry’s challenges. This course prepares you to become an effective manager in the tourism sector – whilst delivering a range of transferrable business skills.This course develops a critical understanding of tourism and business management to meet the changing demands of society and the economy. This degree will prepare students with a solid grounding in the industry, and a set of current, relevant skills. When they finish students will have the confidence to tackle any career in tourism.

The BA/BSc (Hons) Business and Tourism course addresses basic management practices and procedures as well as the specific tourism management knowledge and skills essential to the industry. It will introduce you to the concept of the visitor economy as well as different industries that form part of the global tourism industry such as airlines, cruise lines, casinos and destinations. The Tourism Management bachelor course will prepare you for an exciting and varied career in the tourism industry.

As one of the largest and fastest growing industries, the demand for individuals who can bring fresh ideas, think analytically and provide novel insights into tackling business problems in tourism continues to grow.

The programme has been developed to give students the key business skills needed for a successful career in this sector.  There is a particular focus on the biggest challenges facing the tourism industry, these include sustainability, ethical tourism and diverse competition.  Designed to unlock your potential by enhancing both your commercial awareness and specialist subject knowledge you will study the economic, social, political, cultural and environmental significance of tourism. You will develop your knowledge of the world’s fastest growing industry on a degree designed to empower you with the skills and experience to balance changing customer demands and increasing high levels of the service expected, with fresh ideas, sustainable schemes and novel marketing plans.

This degree is designed for those who wish to follow a similar pattern to the tourism management programme but wish their degree title to reflect the emphasis given to additional core modules in business and management.

We’ll assess your progress through a variety of methods from coursework, group assignments, activity-based assignments and exams. You can expect to part take in on-going problem-solving activities, projects and presentations. You’ll also be able to access support material through Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). All assignments are designed with your career progression in mind and give you opportunities to develop and improve transferable skills employers look for.

The Travel and Tourism degree will equip you with skills sought after by travel and tourism companies and help you to gauge an understanding of international tourism business. You will develop strong business management and communication skills, broadening your job prospects. You can aim for a job in travel, tourism or hospitality management, marketing and customer services.

  • Minimum Age: 18 years old;
  • Applicants are required to submit proof of prior certificated learning (e.g. Secondary School Diploma/Baccalaureate/Level 3 qualification) and/or relevant work experience;
  • Applications from mature candidates without formal qualifications are welcomed provided they could demonstrate appropriate levels of relevant ability and experience.
  • If you are unable to meet the entry requirements for this course you may still be eligible for our Foundation year course. This is an extra year of study to prepare you for the full degree.
  • Applicants who do not have English as their first language will be required to demonstrate an approved level of proficiency in the use of the English language.
  • Applicants must bring their original certificates when coming for registration;

Self-Founding

The Tuition Fee of the course will vary depending on the institution you wish to study in, as well as your status in the UK. The course is available for UK/EU and International Students as well. Please contact us to find out the tuition fee for a specific course you’d like to know about.

 

Government Founds                                                                                                         

If you are an UK/EU citizen or living in the UK on Indefinite stay, you can receive support from the government via Student Loan Company to cover tuition fees and some living costs while studying, depending on your circumstances. Tuition fee loans, to cover the full cost of your course, are paid directly to the course provider. Maintenance loans can be applied for at the same time, lending you money at the start of each term. You won’t have to pay back the loan until after your course, when you’re earning above a certain level.  Students can still apply for grants if they’re eligible for certain benefits, disabled, or need help with childcare costs.
