On the BA/BSc (Hons) Law and Accounting degree, you’ll acquire accounting skills and legal knowledge, enabling you to pursue a career in either profession or combine the two. What you need to know about Law and Accounting

The Law and Accounting degree combines two of the most business-critical functions, allowing you to develop accounting skills and legal knowledge. This degree aims to produce professionally focused graduates with a deep working knowledge of the theory and practice of accounting and law. The MSc in Law and Business is an intellectual stimulation that teaches you the legal aspects of the business while also providing insight into corporate regulation, consumer law, and other topics.

You’ll learn from practising lawyers, business leaders and leading academics and gain a solid understanding of the accounting and legal professions, opening doors for many career paths.

The Law and Accounting course will equip you with a fundamental understanding of how legal considerations impact every aspect of management activity. You’ll study both academic and practical elements that are highly valued in other occupations outside the law, which, alongside modules about them, give students critical transferable skills like communication or enterprise problem-solving abilities for their future careers.

Graduates who wish to continue their studies towards professional accreditation in the accounting profession can take advantage of a ‘fast track’ agreement with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Subject to passing the required combination of courses on your degree, you will be exempt from specific modules required on the route towards professional accreditation.

Course Length:  3 years / 4 years including Foundation year;
Start dates:  January / April / August / September;

The demand for graduates with accounting and law backgrounds is strong, both in large accounting firms that have forensic departments and/or litigation departments and from legal firms, in particular from those firms that specialize in corporate law. However, this degree will also be of interest to those who wish to pursue different areas of accounting (for example auditing, taxation, insolvency, etc.) and of law (as knowledge of business and taxation issues influence legal advice given about probate, divorce settlements, etc).
