The BA/BSc (Hons) Health and Social Care Management offers graduate entry for future managers and administrators of health and social care services in both the statutory and voluntary sectors. It provides you with the necessary skills and knowledge to be an effective employee of these ever-changing services.

The course aims to rise above the parts that make up health service; instead, it looks at how health and social care work together. The course will also open the possibilities for a career working for large aid organisations locally and abroad. The relevant placements further boost your employability upon graduation.

Some students progress to postgraduate study in education, public health, social work, occupational therapy, nursing and research. The work placements experienced throughout the three years allows you to explore those areas of health and social care within which you would like to develop your future career. Placements are in a wide range of settings, including the NHS, social care, charitable, non-profit making and private organisations, public health, occupational health, local authorities and Government.

The course is concerned with policy and legislation relating to health and social care as well as the sociology of health, welfare and social care issues faced by vulnerable individuals and groups. It prepares graduates for a range of roles in the wider health and social care sectors, including the not-for-profit (voluntary), private sector and public sector.

  • Applicants are required to submit proof of prior certificated learning (e.g. Secondary School Diploma/Baccalaureate/Level 3 qualification) and/or relevant work experience;
  • Applications from mature candidates without formal qualifications are welcomed provided they could demonstrate appropriate levels of relevant ability and experience.
  • If you are unable to meet the entry requirements for this course you may still be eligible for our Foundation year course. This is an extra year of study to prepare you for the full degree.
  • Applicants who do not have English as their first language will be required to demonstrate an approved level of proficiency in the use of the English language.

Assessment

You’ll be assessed via seen examinations, short answer papers, practical reports and reviews, case studies, group assessment projects, presentations, essays and health profiles. However, the weight of assessments are written assignments and these allow you to explore the subject in depth through detailed research and construct an argument based on the evidence you gain in preparing the assignment.

Progression

Self-Funding

The Tuition Fee of the course will vary depending on the institution you wish to study in, as well as your status in the UK. The course is available for UK/EU and International Students as well. Please contact us to find out the tuition fee for a specific course you’d like to know about.

Government Funds – Student Finance England         

If you are an UK/EU citizen or living in the UK on Indefinite stay, you can receive support from the government via Student Loan Company to cover tuition fees and some living costs while studying, depending on your circumstances. Tuition fee loans, to cover the full cost of your course, are paid directly to the course provider. Maintenance loans can be applied for at the same time, lending you money at the start of each term. You won’t have to pay back the loan until after your course, when you’re earning above a certain level.  Students can still apply for grants if they’re eligible for certain benefits, disabled, or need help with childcare costs.
