Applicants must provide proof of their highest academic qualification, which can include:

  • Level 3 Qualifications (e.g., A Levels, Level 3 NVQ, diplomas, certificates, or Access to Higher Education Diploma)

  • High School Level Qualifications
  • Level 2 Qualifications or equivalent (e.g., GCSEs, Level 2 NVQ, diplomas, certificates)

 

✅ English Proficiency and Admission Process

If English is not your first language, you must complete an English language test that assesses speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. We also accept a range of other English language qualifications.

Applicants will also need to attend an interview with a member of the admissions team.

Course overview

The BA (Hons) Psychology with Foundation Year is designed for students who are interested in understanding human behaviour, emotions, cognition, and the psychological factors that influence individuals and society. The course provides a strong foundation in psychological theory while developing practical research, analytical, and communication skills that can be applied across a range of professional settings.

The Foundation Year offers additional academic support and introduces students to key concepts in psychology, social sciences, communication, research, and critical thinking. It helps students build confidence and develop the essential study skills required before progressing to degree-level modules.
Throughout the programme, students explore areas such as cognitive psychology, developmental psychology, social psychology, biological psychology, personality, mental health, and research methods. The course encourages students to critically evaluate psychological theories and apply their knowledge to real-world issues in areas such as education, healthcare, business, and community services.

Students also develop transferable skills including communication, problem-solving, analytical thinking, teamwork, research, and critical evaluation, preparing them for careers across a wide variety of sectors.

Fees & funding

Course fee per year: £9.790

The Tuition Fee of the course may vary depending on the institution you wish to study at, as well as your status in the UK. The course is available for UK/EU & International Students and eligible for Student Loans Company (SLC) funding to help cover the cost of your tuition fees and other expenses.

If you are an UK/EU citizen or living in the UK on an Indefinite stay, apart from the tuition fees, you could also receive support from the government via Student Loans Company to cover some living costs while studying.
