BA HONS MUSIC BUSINESS MANAGEMENT WITH INTEGRATED FOUNDATION

Are you an aspiring music manager, record label executive, live event organiser, or business-savvy recording artist looking to leg up on the competition with new knowledge and skills? The BA (Hons) Music business management degree aims to nurture in creative and ambitious individuals with a passion for music and business the future-facing skills and critical knowledge necessary to establish a career in the current music industry.

With digital potential bringing newfound excitement and five years of healthy industry development, this is probably the most exciting time to be joining the music business. Young, ambitious and competent new entrants will fare better than most in the new global streaming economy, where many of the rules have yet to be defined. Social media marketing, online audience growth hacking, artist branding, and data analysis are just a few of the skills you may acquire with this course.

On this Music business management degree, you will learn from industry experts and have the chance to put your ideas and new skills into practice in your third year through work placements or entrepreneurial project-based courses.

To be successful in this degree, you must have a solid foundation in at least one of the underlying subjects: Music technology, business or economics, English language, or media and communications. If you do not already have or are not expected to get a Level 3 certificate in one of these disciplines, you must apply for the four-year degree with an integrated foundation year.

MUSIC BUSINESS MANAGEMENT FOUNDATION YEAR

The Foundation in Music Business (Year 0) program is designed for students who have not previously studied any of the key subject areas and wish to learn or refresh the skills essential for success at the undergraduate level or entry-level job in the entertainment industry.

The foundation year will expand on your interest and experience in music as a fan or enthusiast, and will provide you with the required skills and information to prepare you for Level 4 study. You will gain important business, intellectual and digital skills that will prepare you for future education as well as your professional career. You will gain the writing and online communication skills required to engage, persuade and convince people of the value of your ideas and music projects. As you acquire an active interest and fluency in the vocabulary and concepts of business, media and communications, you will be prepared to make the most of the remainder of your studies and the reality of industrial employment.
