Course overview

This practice-based master’s degree in Music Production is for aspiring producers who want to create professional-grade work and build a unique artistic voice and identity. Over the course, you’ll develop and record original compositions, working through demoing, mixing and mastering as part of a major creative project.

At the start, you’ll focus on production, recording and song development—choosing modules like songwriting or composition for film and media. Afterwards, the focus shifts to polishing that work with advanced mixing, mastering and digital distribution techniques. All the while, you’ll learn strategic steps for launching your brand, managing releases and developing your audience in the online environment.
Students get to devote time to a major project—a fully formed body of work that could be an EP, a score, or a portfolio piece for the industry, possibly including an industry placement as well. Assessment is coursework-only, while teaching and the curriculum itself reflect real-world creative work.

Graduates acquire strong studio skills, creative confidence and a clear direction—whether you want to take on roles as a music producer, mix engineer, studio manager or creative entrepreneur. The course aims to help you carve out a distinctive sound and an entrepreneurial mindset in today’s competitive and dynamic music landscape.
