Over the past few years, employment in the hospitality industry has increased faster than for the economy overall. But there remain significant skills gaps, particularly in the following areas: customer service; interpersonal skills; supervisory skills; finance; and employability skills. These qualification in Hospitality seek to address these areas by encouraging the acquisition and development of these competencies before, or while in, employment in the hospitality industry.

The course prepares learners for a career in the hospitality industry in various roles so has a huge focus on employability skills. For adult learners, the Level 3 Diploma can extend their experience of work in a particular sector. It may also be a suitable qualification for those wishing to change career or move into a particular area of employment following a career break. There is potential for the qualification to prepare learners for progression within education or into employment in the appropriate vocational sector and it is suitable for those who have decided that they wish to study in detail or work in a particular area of work.

The programme recognises the growing importance and role that hospitality plays throughout the UK and globally and is aimed at those who have the motivation, attitude and drive to develop their career in this sector, with a particular focus on careers in hotels, restaurants, events and food and beverage service.  The course will improve personal learning and thinking skills, including confidence in your ability to go out into the workplace. It will also develop your analytical, research, problem solving and interpersonal skills.

The Level 3 Diploma Hospitality gives you a practical, real-world approach to learning based on real-life work and studies. It will give you a good insight into the industry and you will gain a range of skills to help in your chosen career.

You will learn through a mixture of taught lessons, group work and practical activities and this will be applied to actual events and activities within the Hospitality industry. Assessment is via coursework which may take the form of written assessment, short presentations on given topics, role-play or group work for each unit.

This course gives you the opportunity to enter employment in Hospitality industry or to access a range of higher education opportunities including Management, Business, Tourism and Leisure, Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts Management, Hospitality Management and Events Management.

This is a level 3 qualification which provides comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the hospitality and catering industry, preparing students with the knowledge and skills to progress to supervisory level roles.

  • Applicants must be 19+, motivated to study with a clear intention to progress to a higher education course;
  • There are flexible qualification requirements for admission, but all applicants will be interviewed during the admissions process.
  • Applicants will need to take a diagnostic assessment of literacy (unless already qualified to Level 2 in English and Maths);

Government Founds    

If you are an UK/EU citizen or living in the UK on Indefinite Stay, you can receive support from the government via 19+Advanced Learning Loan to cover tuition fees costs while studying, depending on your circumstances. These loans help learners aged 19 and over, to pay the fees charged by approved colleges and training organisations in England.

You can get a tuition fee loan to cover your full course fees. You only start to pay back your student loan after you finish studying and are earning over £21,000 a year.
