Course overview

As designers, we play an essential role in society and have the power to make a significant difference in our environment. Through briefs that challenge you to delve below the surface, presenting sustainable and culturally-conscious solutions to real-world situations, you will be encouraged to develop a critical eye. You’ll think about font, colour, forms and shading, and how combining these components in an eye-catching fashion can convey a powerful message. This bachelor’s graphic design degree reflects the graphic design industry to guarantee you have the skills and knowledge to find the appropriate position once you finish. While other graphic design degrees teach the theory, our program ensures that you put it into practice.

You’ll establish your own visual identity as part of our BA (Hons) Graphic Design degree, with a focus on typography and professional connections earned from our industry-active, research-led teaching staff. With options to specialise in your area of interest and receive honours from major graphic design organisations, you’ll be able to construct an exciting design portfolio that no employer will be able to refuse. If you want to start a career in web design, advertising, branding, or other media, or advance to a Master’s degree, now is the time to do it.

Using cutting-edge software, our broad industry connections and our studio spaces, you’ll develop a strong skill set that will allow you to communicate your ideas and work in a business-like manner within the creative sectors. Throughout this Graphic Design program, you will also participate in a variety of workshops on typography, printmaking, photography, motion design and other topics. You’ll be a knowledgeable graphic designer capable of articulating the theory behind your ideas, the history of the profession, and generating work that captivates your audience by the time you graduate.
