About Education and Training
The HND Education and Training (DET) Diploma is the ultimate qualification for teaching or training and has been developed in conjunction with Ofqual and is recognised by the Society for Education and Training. The Diploma in Education and Training is a recognised route to gaining Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status, enabling you to teach in schools, colleges and further education.
This HND Education and Training (DET) course will enable you to take a practical and analytical approach to all the aspects of training and education, from planning and designing learning to teaching, assessing and supporting learners. You will also cover the theories and principles of education and training and embed these in your teaching and practice.
Candidates who complete this qualification will take an analytical, reflective and practical approach to planning, delivering and assessing inclusive teaching and learning. Whilst doing this, candidates will embed theories and principles in education and training and demonstrate them in their practice.
The qualification aims to allow trainee teachers the flexibility to teach in a wide range of contexts. Including teaching across more than one level, teaching a variety of learners, teaching individuals and groups; experiencing non-teaching roles; gaining subject specialist knowledge through workplace mentoring. The course will enable you to become an effective, critical and professional teacher or trainer with well-developed knowledge, skills and understanding of your role and the sector you operate within.
The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (DET) not only gives you expertise and the chance to investigate the theories and current practices of education but also allows you to demonstrate that you can transfer the findings of your research and investigation into your teaching practice. As a Level 5 teaching qualification, the course content is the same as a PGCE (Post-Graduate Certificate in Education) in Lifelong Learning. It carries the same value and credit with regulators, employers and the education and training sectors.
