Audio creators rely on technologies that allow us to pursue various creative careers. The Master of Music in Commercial Music Technology is an advanced degree that focuses on creating, developing, and distributing commercial audio. The course promotes research and exploration of these technologies and their contextual application, teaching their history and how they relate to future industries. Exceptional audio, advanced recording, mixing and mastering techniques, synthesis, music, and moving image are all areas of study.

 

The program aims to offer a commercially focused practice-based Master’s degree to aspiring or established music producers and audio engineers. The program’s specific goals are as follows:

 

  • To develop a specialist understanding of advanced music production and audio practices and a thorough understanding of the technologies adopted in the commercial music industry. 
  • To create a learning environment that allows students to investigate these issues systematically, critically, creatively, and in the context of the changing nature of professional practice.
  • Give students a thorough understanding of, and paths to, successful and entrepreneurial careers in production, working individually, collaboratively, and in the context of larger organisations, including leadership roles.
  • Enable producers and engineers to create a significant body of original creative work at various scales that demonstrate a critical awareness of relevant theory, research, and professional practice, as well as a distinct, robust, and imaginative artistic personality or “voice”;
  • Additionally, students will be prepared to lead, develop, and innovate in music technology-based industry settings.

Course Length: 1 year;

  • Applicants are required to submit proof of Bachelor Degree Diploma;
  • For candidates with over 5 years of experience in a managerial role, but without an undergraduate degree, the course/module leader will review the application based on the applicant suitability for the course;
  • Applicants who do not have English as their first language will be required to demonstrate an approved level of proficiency in the use of the English language;
  • Applicants must bring their original certificates when coming for registration;

Assessment

Lectures, seminars, group projects, and e-learning are among the teaching methods used. Written exams, case studies, assignments, projects, and reports are all examples of assessment methods.

Self-Funding

The Tuition Fee of the course will vary depending on the institution you wish to study in, as well as your status in the UK. The course is available for UK/EU and International Students. Please contact us to find out the tuition fee for a specific course you’d like to know about.

Government Founds – Student Finance England 

If you are a UK/EU citizen with pre-settled or settled status or living in the UK on Indefinite stay, and you want to apply for a postgraduate course, you can receive support from the government through the Student Loan Company. If you’re starting a master’s degree, you could get a Postgraduate Master’s Loan of up to £11.570 to help with course fees and living costs. You’ll have to start repaying your loan when your income is over a certain amount (the ‘threshold’ amount), but only one year after you finish your course.
