Course overview

The Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering is a comprehensive programme that combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills to prepare students for a successful career in engineering and technology. This degree focuses on core principles such as mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, and structural analysis, alongside modern tools like computer-aided design (CAD) and simulation software.

Students will develop problem-solving abilities, project management skills, and technical expertise through hands-on laboratory work, real-world case studies, and group engineering projects. With a strong focus on innovation and sustainability, the course addresses current industry needs and prepares graduates to contribute to complex engineering solutions across sectors.

By the end of the degree, students are equipped to pursue roles in design, manufacturing, research, or development—or continue with postgraduate studies. The BEng (Hons) is also a recognised route toward professional registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng) in the UK.
