Course overview

The BSc (Hons) Psychology with Foundation Year is a four-year undergraduate programme designed for students who are interested in understanding human behaviour, emotions, thinking patterns, and social interaction. The course offers a combination of academic knowledge and practical skills, helping students explore how psychology is applied in real-life contexts such as mental health, education, workplaces, healthcare, and everyday relationships.

The Foundation Year provides additional academic support for students who want to strengthen their confidence and study skills before progressing to degree-level modules. During this year, students are introduced to the basics of psychology, academic writing, research, communication, and critical thinking, creating a solid foundation for future study.

Throughout the degree, students will study a variety of psychological subjects, including cognitive processes, human development, social behaviour, personality, mental health, and research methods. The programme also encourages students to analyse human behaviour from different perspectives and apply psychological theories to modern societal issues.
By the end of the course, students will have developed transferable skills such as communication, analytical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and research abilities, preparing them for both further academic study and a wide range of professional opportunities.
